We can’t explain it, but there’s something about supercar accidents that grasp our attention. This accident involving a bright red Ferrari Testarossa and a poor tree that either happened to cross its way or fell after a lightning strike, occurred somewhere in the city of Hague in The Netherlands. We don’t know any details but at least it seems that the passengers escaped unhurt.

Gas prices, weak economy, and emissions. These are the three issues that keep revolving the automakers. Europe is now forcing the automakers to meet there emissions standards, and this is causing a lot of trouble to the sport-cars automakers.

As we all know, the sport cars in Europe are not much different from the sport cars in the U.S. They are fancy, luxurious, but above all, fast. In order for them to go fast though they need a good engine. An engine is the heart of the car, but it’s also what makes carbon dioxide come out. So what to do? Europe is setting the emission standards high which is making it impossible for super cars like Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Porsche to meet requirements. This is causing a problem but it does seem like Europe’s Commission is trying to work with them by giving them some exceptions.

Known as the “World Cup of Motorsport” (because teams represent nations rather than constructors), the A1GP open-wheel series has been gaining popularity as a cost-effective alternative for nations and fledgling drivers to enter the world of formula racing

In operation since 2004, its drivers are about to get another step closer to F1 — the single-make, FIA-sanctioned series is adopting a new race-car designed in collaboration with Ferrari, and the machine has just successfully completed wind-tunnel testing in England.

When the Formula One teams met last week at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, they had yet to announce who would take over the helm of their newly-formed Formula One Teams Association. The group was formed to effectively negotiate on behalf of all the teams on a new commercial deal with Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula One Management and on new regulations with the FIA. Reports now indicate that Luca di Montezemolo will act as the group’s leader and spokesman.
