The camaraderie between the two rivals is growing to epic proportions.

With the Ferrari team, including Stefano Dominecali, attending barbecue parties and visiting the Hockenheim premises of McLaren’s partner, Mercedes, and the Ferrari change of heart in the Stepneygate scandal, all of these point to an era of growing alliances in Formula One.

This friendship is sure to go further as McLaren and other team bosses are due to visit the Ferrari headquarters at Maranello on July 29 to decide on F1’s future, Max Mosley, the changes and stipulations sought by the FIA, and their roles.

Ferrari have offered to host the next necessary talks on the technical direction of Formula 1 in compliance with Max Mosley’s recent demand for proposals to aid future change.

FIA president Mosley wrote to teams earlier in July calling for all ten to submit any proposals they had on the future direction of the sport within three months, after which the governing body would implement its own ideas.

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali was at a loss to explain the team’s lack of pace in the German Grand Prix and said a thorough investigation would be undertaken to understand the reasons for it.

The Italian squad was trounced by McLaren at Hockenheim on Sunday, with Lewis Hamilton winning from pole position while Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen finished third and sixth respectively.

The past two races have been a barely mitigated disaster for Ferrari. At Silverstone a tactical blunder nixed Kimi Raikkonen’s victory chances, while Felipe Massa was all at sea in the wet conditions and spun five times on his way to finishing last.

But Sunday’s rout by Lewis Hamilton and McLaren at Hockenheim should perhaps be even greater cause for concern because it indicated that the Maranello squad has fallen behind its Woking rival on outright pace in dry conditions.

It is expected that many of the mainstream automakers would change and improve upon their vehicles so that they are able to make them more efficient. The 2010 Ferrari Millechili is a lightweight two-seater that is 2200 pounds or even less that comes equipped with Formula 1 technology. Ferrari has plans for it to be the successor to the Ferrari Enzo and by doing this they will be removing weight instead of adding any power.

F1 goodies make their way onto a road car. The technology and light weight will make this car spectacularly quick but also fuel efficient. At least we don’t have to worry about the name because we have been told that the production version will be given a new one.

Ferrari has released the California and already they have moved on to bigger and better things. Spies were able to catch a glimpse at what looks to be a Maranello mule that is wearing the camouflage of the F360. What is really beneath the car no one knows - but many guess it to be the successor to the F430 or maybe even the Enzo.
